Ah the never-ending tension between following our principles and living ethically and the need & want of indulging every once in a while in life's luxury and pleasures. From going for some retail therapy at a fast fashion shop (labor and environmental issues) to eating foie gras for xmas (animal welfare), most modern world action involves an ethical dilemma. And this because the whole system is based on discrimination between people and toward animals.
I'm reading "Sapiens" and realize how deeply f*cked up and unjust human societies are. Great read, albeit a despairing one.
I thought after New Year's was a reasonable time to talk about hangovers...? I think there is a balance that can be struck. "Everything in moderation, including moderation."
Maybe the challenge is finding small ways to live (a bit) more consciously without losing sight of joy. More creation, less extraction?
