Bonjour and Welcome!

Hi, I’m Keith, and I live in rabbit holes. This is my life, but I try to make it sound interesting, one awkward moment at a time.

Beside being entertaining, I hope it will be practical. I started this as a way of learning about French culture by connecting it to my own experiences and things I enjoy. This page is full of stories that will surprise people who think they know France well. Come discover.

A bit of backstory: My wife and I are former teachers from NYC. We sold almost everything we owned and moved out of the country, winding up in France. What started as a big adventure has become an ongoing masterclass in cultural adaptation. Sometimes, it’s funny. Many times, it’s incredibly awkward.

Inspiration for Your Own Journey

Maybe you’re looking to move abroad, you live abroad or maybe you just like a good story.

This isn’t just about France. This is about getting lost - and maybe finding myself - in another culture.

It’s about redefining what “home” means, finding humor where I can, and realizing that sometimes, the problems are what makes things interesting.

We quit our jobs, sold everything that wouldn’t fit in a suitcase, and moved out of the country. These are the stories of an American learning to find home beyond U.S. borders. For now, that home is France—baguettes, bureaucracy, and all.
