A French village doubles in size each Easter Monday to cook one massive, not-quite-an-omelette—born in the 1970s, dressed in legend, and stirred with paddles.
I love small town festival. I’ve gone to 3 different chestnut festivals in Bretagne alone. I suggested making shirts to one of the coordinators in limerzel, but I don’t think they got it: “Chestnut Fest Nut”. Doesn’t work in French.
Loved this! And thanks for the reminder. It's not far from me, I might try to make it this year.

I love all of the detail here, down to the recipe! The French do seem to be fans of the "giant food item" festival.
They do like a large food event for sure. The recipe was fun to work out.
They also created the world’s largest fondue recently! https://www.france24.com/en/video/20250224-france-sets-new-guinness-world-record-of-cheese-fondue-of-2-117-5-kilograms
The logistics of the fondue event seem quite complicated -- same for the raclette!
